CHANGES IN OUR WATERS

This recyclable tangible installation explores a sea turtles journey through the water, encountering other sea life along the way. The design is created for a children’s museum to play with the jellyfish and turtles. To immerse themselves into the playful interaction with no limits to their experience.

This project focuses on utilising recyclables to recreate the turtles journey in the water, subtly showcasing the issues of pollution in the ocean. Every piece of art has used recyclable materials and specific pollutant plastics that harm sea life. This is subtly seen with the fishnets shown in the jellyfish and turtle. Fishnets are the biggest killer to turtles, causing them to drown, starve or become easy prey to predators.

This project hopes to inspire other tangible installation designers to integrate more recycling into projects as it is an easy medium to create interactive art whilst educating the audience members. Even designed to entertain children in a safe environment, it promotes incorporating plastics in a circular economy.

Food for thought

Imagine the impact and education we could spread by utilising more recycling into our art!
